How to build community as a photographer
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” – Helen Keller
Why it’s important to build community as a photographer
building community as a photographer can be difficult but it doesn’t have to be!
Let’s be honest, the road to entrepreneurship is not an easy one and can often times feel lonely (trust me I’ve been there). While running a one- person show definitely has its perks, no one prepares you for the unpredictable highs and lows of solopreneurship. But by putting yourself into rooms with individuals who support and equally share the vision you have for business, life, and relationships you will increase that sense of belonging and support system needed to help you grow. I’ve created this guide with my top three tips on how to build community as a photographer in hopes of helping you find your inner circle and flourish into the business owner you are meant to be.
1. Reach out to local photographers/ business owners
This is by far one of the best ways to build your inner circle in the photography world. Whether it be on Instagram or in person don’t be afraid to reach out, say hello, and create relationships with those in and outside of your niche.
2. Attend in person events
Another great way to build community is to attend in person events (my favorite). This can be a content day, workshop, retreat, conference, etc. I know this can sometimes feel daunting but I promise you will not regret the long-lasting relationships this can cultivate!
if you’re interested in attending a future content day/ retreat feel free to sign up to my email list to be the first to know of upcoming events.
3. Join online communities
This is huge resource that isn’t talked about enough and is often overlooked. Online communities such as on Facebook are filled with empowering entrepreneurs willing to build community and help each other learn and grow.
REMEMBER building long lasting and meaningful relationships take time and don’t happen over night so give yourself all the love and grace when it comes to searching for your tribe. I hope that these tips have served you and that you will be surrounded with like minded individuals ready to make things happen in no time!
